Day 1. PALMA DE MALLORCA
Explore & Enjoy
Arrive in to Palma de Mallorca’s airport and transfer out of the city centre to relax in your 4 star hotel for the night.Crazy about History? For those really keen to get this trip on the road, why not take the cycle / walking path beside the sea into the city centre and see the most impressive 17th century Gothic Cathedral (“Le Seu”) in the handsome dusty coral colour. It punctuates the skyline so impressively and has one of the biggest rose windows illuminating its interior. Later additions by Gaudi, opened the space to light and shouldn’t be missed on your visit if you have time.
RIDE 1: 79 km | Gain 887 m
If you have arrived on time and have time in the day, get set up and then on to take a beautiful loop ride that goes away into the more mountainous landscape and features the lovely Coll d’Honor (Oriente). Discover the area near the capital of Palma and the seaside. A good climb with gorgeous views to start you off to Oriente. An ideal climb, as doing it both ways has its advantages of views. Relish the descent to Alaró
RIDE 2: 67 km | 650 m
Another option is loop via Galilea which leads you to a lollypop in the area just above the capital of Palma westwards. Enjoy the coastal ride returning to the hotel.
Day 2. TO PORTO CRISTO
RIDE 1: 68 km | 590 m
Hug the coast for a start, then warm up with a slight climb but quieter roads toward the attractive small town of Llucmajor with its stone houses. A quiet journey on back roads leads you to the busier town of Manacor in which is famous for the selling of Pearls! It is a lovely day of stone fences, fig trees and pastures. Porto Cristo is a pretty spot and its charming Bay is delightful.
RIDE 2: 93 km | 642 m takes in the smaller spot of Campos and Felantix, dating from the 13th century, and has the medieval Sant Salvador Monastery on a hillside.

Day 3.TO PORT DE POLLENCA
RIDE: 78 km | 576 m
A short but steep climb first thing gets you out of town, to enjoy the Mallorcan country the rest of the day. Retrace your steps to Manacor, to cycle along the small roads and tiny farm holdings. Enjoy the fields of sheep and the carob trees that dot the land. Visit the pretty town of Petra, where 18th century Friar Junipero Serra, was born, the priest who founded 9 of California’s 21 religious missions. Busier nearing the end of the ride but the destination is very nice with its bay stretching around.
Day 4. PORT DE POLLENCA LOOP
RIDE 1: 42 km | 1107 m
A short and beautiful ride with some magnificent views. One of Mallorca’s finest. An out and back which keeps giving as you go towards the famous Cap de Formenter light house and back home through the pine tree forest. The northern point here is known as the “Finding the Winds”. The climbs are not steep, aside from a drag drag back from the lighthouse base, but all do-able and delightful. A real feather in your cycling cap.
Relax in Pollenca later. It is a popular venue and the cycle and walking path stretches around the bay attractively with its palms, white sands and bobbing fishing boats. So nice that even Agatha Christie was inspired to write a story here on one of her many visits in the 1930s.
RIDE 2: 78 km | 1187 m
A longer ride away from the coast that crosses the very rolling landscape twice of the tip of the Serra de Tramuntana. A very pretty climb to Inca and Selva. It is a worthwhile adventure that will give you some great climbs in preparation for the fulfilling more summits of Tramuntana.
Day 5. TO PORT DE SÓLLER
RIDE 1: 62 km | 1445 m / Optional extra Miles offered – SA CALOBRA & PUIG MAJOR
One of the best days in the saddle here! Steadily rise from Pollenca for much of it, through fir tree forests and with awesome views of the rocky Tramuntana mountains you are in the midst of. Climbing to reach the base of Coll de Femenia, a lovely climb with hairpins and vistas. An option to visit to the 16th century Monastery of Lluc lies at the top. Continue to rise to the Sa Calobra turnoff, where you can make the decision to do some more, up to the little summit of Coll dels Reis, and if feeling considerably brave, descend this gorgeous road to the small port and race back up the training ground of the Pros, the Sa Calobra. Iconic but you aren’t finished yet, climb up to cycle through the tunnel with a stunning view of Soller and Port de Soller far below and if really brave, the Puig Major. Have fun on the smooth descent down. A beer on the beach could be deserved this afternoon.
RIDE 2: 77km | 860 m
Not so keen to climb so much? No problem. Take a longer cycling route around the pretty villages lying on the outside rim of the Tramuntana mountains but avoids many of the big summits. A rolling cycle through Santa María, known for its weavers and its beautiful pottery. Another charming stop on the route to Soller with its handsome stone coral coloured buildings. The last part of the ride, is the very nice 5km climb to the Coll de Soller which has a constant 5% gradient.
.
Day 6. PORT DE SÓLLER LOOP
RIDE 1: 62 km | 1445 m
A gorgeous loop of a lot of diversity in cycling but solid elevation stats. It has so many beautiful views of the Med, pleasant villages, carob trees, rocky outcrops and pastures, that it doesn’t bore for sure. Climbing from the Port, keeping the Med on your right, pass through the picturesque village of Deia, set amongst the mountains. Deia, so stunning, has been a mainstay for famous artists, writers and musicians for decades with luminaries such as Chopin, Keith Richards, Brad Pitt, Robert Graves and Andrew Lloyd Webber all staying there. A lovely descent to elegant Valdemossa with its steep narrow streets and stone homes, to pick up a coffee, before making your way back up the rock terraced switchbacks to the Coll de Soller, an easy summit from this side, to descend through the forest to Port Soller.
OTHER LONGER ROUTES upto 110km with ascent gain in the 2140 m or 2480 m region, the loops extending further west from Sóller – Challenging level. Again you just can not go wrong cycling here! All cycling routes in Mallorca are unequivocally beautiful.
Day 7. TO PALMA
Ride 1: 63 km | Gain: 872 m
Retrace some of your steps of yesterday, of course beautiful views of the sea, through Deia and Valldemossa and its unique church tower, to start to descent, though a few hills to get over. Many small holdings with sheep, goats, carob and olive trees to pass by and not a few bustling towns to go through, before you see the outline of the famous Cathedral and the sea in front of you.
Ride 2: 94 km | 1040 m
Enjoy a longer ride back to Palma, this time hugging the coastline further. A great ride to finish your Ultimate cycling loop of Mallorca!
Well done on your island traverse! Staying outside the city centre, prepare yourself to leave the cyclist’s paradise of Mallorca tomorrow by strolling down the bike/walking path towards the centre or spend time on the beach. Such a shame to leave!
Day 8. ONWARD FROM MALLORCA
ADÉU, FINS AVIAT!
After breakfast, spend time before your flight, visiting romantic Palma de Mallorca, strolling her winding alleyways or the nearby beaches.
We hope you have had a wonderful time, whether it has been for a bit of spring – summer or autumn cycle training, or just a great bike touring adventure!
